MURAL WALL PARTNERS

Have you seen the new public murals installed around Concord and wondered how your building may be selected for a mural? The below information covers some of the important criteria taken into consideration for eligibility.

Please review before submitting an application to have your wall considered as a Wall Partner of Creative Concord. If you have questions, please contact us. Deadline for submissions is March 15th, 2024.

Thank you!

PUBLIC VISIBILITY & ACCESS

The mural wall must be on a building exterior in a highly visible public location that can be viewed from a major surface street or highway with little or no obstructions. Ideally, the wall will be in a location where the public can easily access the artwork for safe viewing via a sidewalk, open lot, alleyway, etc.

WALL CONDITION

The mural wall must be in suitable shape for artwork (for example, no major deterioration such as severely chipping paint or holes/dents in the wall that require repairs).

2024 LOCATIONS

For 2024, locations in North Concord as well as locations off of Monument Blvd. and Clayton Road, near the intersections of either Treat Blvd. or Ygnacio Valley Rd., will be considered first.

PROPERTY Owner APPROVAL

The property owner must approve the artwork installation and sign a terms & conditions agreement. Property owner contact information is required to submit an application.

NOT FOR BUSINESS ADVERTISEMENT

The mural will not advertise either a business or service (per City regulations). Signage of any type may not be installed on top of or next to the mural in a way that would suggest the artwork is an advertisement for any business.

SPONSORSHIP

There are many costs associated to mural production including artist fees for design & labor, rental equipment, wall prep, paint, supplies, protective coating, and insurance. While not a requirement for consideration, building/business owners that contribute as a sponsor to the Creative Concord program will be considered first.

ARTIST SELECTION & MURAL DESIGN

Creative Concord’s curatorial committee selects the muralists for participation each year and pairs them with a wall location with thoughtful consideration of the tenants, artist’s style, and setting of the mural. Selected wall participants will have the opportunity to approve the artist and mural design, but will not be able to dictate the creative direction of the mural design.

HOW MANY WALLS WILL BE SELECTED?

At this time we’re anticipating 4 new murals will be developed for the next Creative Concord taking place in October 2024. If your wall meets the criteria but is not selected this year we will keep you in mind for next year’s program.
